Cubs, also know as whelp or lionet are young lions. The lioness will typically give birth to 3 to 6 cubs after a gestation period of 110 days. The cubs eyes will open in 3 to 10 days' time. They start weaning at about 10 weeks up to 40 weeks. At 2 years, they start gaining hunting skills and are fully grown at a period of between 3 to 4 years. Typically, cubs are hidden for about 4 to 8 weeks before being introduced into the pride.
